Camps Australia Wide 6

Finding information about cheap/free camping sites has been a bit hit-and-miss.  There just doesn’t seem to be one place that has it all.  I was trawling through Cycling Dutch Girl’s blog the other day, and she mentioned this wonderful publication:

It is billed as “the ultimate guide for the budget-conscious traveller”.  It contains maps, photos, GPS coordinates, and descriptions of the camp sites.  Importantly, for a camp site to make it into this book, it must be under $22 a night.  This includes free camping spots.  My little eyes lit up when I saw this.

I discovered that the RACQ sells this book.  Once again, an automobile association comes in handy for this cyclist.  In fact, I’ve had more use from the RACQ in a cycling context than I have in a motoring context.  Bonus:  As an RACQ member, it’s cheaper for me to buy it from them than from the authors directly!  So the order has been placed, and hopefully it will be with me in a couple of days.  This will help us start planning our local/short tours.

About Max

I'm an IT nerd who spends much less time on my bike than I'd like. I'm planning a big cycle tour for when I get long service leave (2013). Until then, I keep plodding along at my job and get on my bike when I can. Did I mention I love riding my bike?
